HSBC recently launched a new current account proposition that gave customers £110 cashback plus a choice of a £30 Uber Eats Voucher or a £30 Dining Out Gift Card when they switched over to a HSBC Advance Account.
In a campaign that drew on the success of a previous ‘cash plus’ offering, HSBC was able to leverage a total headline offer of £140 worth of value. Maintaining a cash-based element to remain competitive, but also offering desirable, seasonally relevant add ons which allowed them to stretch their budgets further.
HSBC Student Account’s acquisition proposition has run a cash+ promotion to acquire new customers for the past several years. They have previously partnered with Amazon offering an £80 voucher and a 12- month Prime Student Membership simultaneously.
The latest version of the campaign sees new student customers rewarded with £80 cash plus, a choice of either a £20 Uber Eats voucher or a year of unlimited next-day delivery with ASOS Premier. MLP established and brokered the commercial partnership with both Uber Eats & ASOS on behalf of HSBC, as well as creating the customer claim webpage and managing all authentication of claims and email communications. This is also the first time that HSBC has used channels such as Tik Tok and Twitch in their promotional strategy.
HSBC recently wanted to engage with HSBC Advance customers and make them feel appreciated. We created a surprise and delight campaign with a difference.
They congratulated and celebrated their customer’s birthdays by emailing them and inviting them to pick 1 of 3 rewards – a free Costa £5 eGift Card, 1 free pizza from PizzaExpress, or a 30 day free trial of Readly including 2 free audiobooks.
