Dear Discount Schemes, We Need to Talk
Dear Discount Schemes,
We’ve had some good times, haven’t we? You gave me a welcome discount, and I’ve used my 10% off here and there. You were great at first but honestly, I’m looking for something deeper…
You’re like a plaster on a bigger wound. You cover the problem (for a while) but don’t fix it. There’s no real emotional connection and no spark between us. Every time I reach for you, it’s the same old story, “Hurry! This deal won’t last.” And yes, the discount works, at first. But then that spark fades, and I’m left wondering why I even bothered chasing you in the first place.
And the trouble is, there’s always someone who will always go lower than you. That endless race to the bottom and frankly, I’m exhausted.
So, I’ve started seeing other people. Loyalty, for one. They’re playing the long game, building relationships that last beyond a one night brand. They don’t just dangle a discount carrot like you do. They take me out for a luxury afternoon tea, a spa day or even a tasty treat that’s about more than saving a few quid. It’s a real ‘thank you’ for sticking around.
Loyalty makes me feel seen, appreciated, valued for who I truly am, not just how much I spend with them. They give me a reason to come back, time and time again, without me having to chase a discount from you.
So, thanks for the memories (what we have of them). You were great in your day, but I’m ready for something with a bit deeper, and way more rewarding.
But right now, I’m all about loyalty. Because when it comes down to it, that’s what really keeps me coming back.
Yours sincerely,
MLP
P.S. We can still make this work, but only if you’re ready to stop playing the discount game and start bringing the rewards and experiences that really matter to me.
The Mooo-d has shifted
Discount deals might grab your customers’ attention initially, but they’re just a flash in the pan and rarely create lasting bonds.
What truly counts is building connections that go beyond price tags. Rewards and experiences that make people feel valued keep them coming back for more.
So, instead of chasing the lowest deal, focus on creating something meaningful that customers actually want to stick with.
